A. Age: 34...and holding. My birthday is coming up and thinking of turning 35 has got me in a bit of a panic. 35! That's old! That's halfway to 70!!!! YIPE!

I. Instruments you play(ed): Saxophone. Not to toot my own horn (ha!) but I was good. Very good in fact. All State Jazz Band, Portland Youth Wind Ensemble, Back-to-Back soloist awards at competitions at Berkley College of Music in Boston....then I graduated High School and stopped. Just....stopped. Definitely a regret in my life that I didn't continue playing.

Z. Zoo animal favorites: Giraffes , elephants and all the big cats. BUT, I only like zoos that are nice and wide open with lots of space for the animals. My favorite so far has been the Jacksonville Zoo!

Easter Morning

We woke up Sunday morning to discover that the Easter Bunny DID indeed stop by :)

(though Iz walked by her "basket" FOUR times before she even noticed it!)

We watched Tangled, had muffins for breakfast, sampled a little candy and then headed to Auntie D's house for lunch and an egg hunt. VERY fun day!!!

Not Looking Good

Well, vacation is over and I was looking forward to getting back into our routine and getting some things done around the house. I was especially looking forward to getting outside and cleaning up the yard now that the snow is gone... 

Until I saw this week's weather report.

Easter Eggs!

We colored our eggs at Auntie D's house yesterday. It was a lot different than last year when Mimi was so little. She really got into it this year :)

I kept trying to get Mimi to show me her messy hands but she just wouldn't do it! For the record....they were BLUE!

We had a blast (as usual) and can't wait to find all those eggs on Sunday after the Easter Bunny comes and hides them all!!!!

Vacation....So Far

Ahhh, vacation. A time to kick back and relax, sip fruity drinks with umbrellas in them and not have a care in the world...

HA!

This is the 5th day of vacation (including teacher workshop day last Friday and the weekend) and we've been going NON-STOP for those five days.

Friday was the day I tackled my to-do list since I knew I wouldn't get another chance for a while. Lots of cleaning, laundry and errand-running.

Saturday I went Easter shopping with Mel (and annual tradition). I got home in time to fix a quick dinner, pick up a little, put Iz to bed and then Hubby and I had friends over for a few drinks and a LOT of laughs.

Sunday morning was Roo's Bday party at Chuck E. Cheese. It's an hour drive each way, plus stops for coffee and gas, and we were there about 3 hours. We got home about 3, Iz popped in a movie and I promptly fell asleep on the couch...

Yesterday was a playdate for Iz at a friends house in the afternoon so not exactly busy for me but I DID have to drop her off and pick her up :)

TODAY....we went to see Rio!!!

Met Hubby afterwards so he could buy a new ladder and tie it to the top of my van and made it home just in time to put Iz to bed.

Whew! and it's only Day 5! The rest of the week includes coloring eggs with Auntie D and Mimi, a trip to the circus, playdate at another friend's house, dinner out for our anniversary (without Iz - we actually have a babysitter!!!), girls night out for me and then Easter Sunday.

My camera hasn't come out yet this vacation but that will change starting tomorrow :)

I Scream, You Scream

We ALL scream for ICE CREAM!!!

Auntie D and I took Mimi and Iz out for ice cream a couple weeks ago 

(yes, I know...I'm right on top of things, huh?!)

Not sure, but we think it may have been Mimi's first ice cream cone :)

Iz, on the other hand, is a pro! :)

This week is school vacation and things are already shaping up to be busy busy busy so I should have plenty of pics to share over the next few days :)

So Iz comes out of the bathroom this morning and says, "Mommy, I have a question for you. When hot things are left out they get cold and when cold things are left out they warm up. Why is that?"

After explaining air temperature to her and answering a couple relevant questions I said, "You thought of that while you were going potty?"

Her answer (with hands on hips)?

"Mommmmyyyy, the bathroom is where I do my best thinking!"

Goodbye Snow....

...Hello...

MUD :(

Ah, springtime in Maine. 

Spring is the bane of my existence. Unlike snow, which is at least pretty when it first falls, spring (especially early spring) is just nasty. I look outside right now and all I see is leafless trees, mud, dingy snowbanks, dullness, lifelessness and all-around misery.

Also, I'm *this* close to buying these for the dog

because the amount of dirt she is dragging into this house is immeasurable. I just washed the floors 3 days ago and you can't even tell. People, the mud is going to push me over the edge!!!

The upside? With temperatures in the mid-60's today, Iz has been outside since the minute we got home...going on 3+hours now. LOVE that!!!

Mimi slept over a couple weeks ago and she did great!

Bumpy's Brithday Dinner

Sunday afternoon we met up with Bumpy, Grammie, Auntie R, Uncle T & cousin E for a late lunch/early dinner at Cracker Barrel :)
