Hiking

Hubby, IzzyB and I have been trying to head out every weekend for the last month or so to get some fresh air and do some walking. I didn't take any pictures except on our hike last weekend. There is a wildlife preserve close to our house and I drive by the beginning of a trail almost everyday. I've always wanted to give it a try and see where it leads so that's where we headed yesterday. We didn't know when we started that a lot of the trail was uphill....but it was worth it when we got to the top!!!

Quick rest on what Iz referred to as a "couch rock."

Up at the top Iz noticed a lot of cans and trash others had left behind so she grabbed a plastic bag out of my backpack and started cleaning up -
LOVE that girl!

View from the top

Callie loved the little stream we crossed on the way back -
She got a cold drink and cooled off her feet!

We are loving our little family hikes.
Planning another one for Mother's Day - checking out another local trail!!!

Maple Sunday 2012

Iz and I headed out mid-morning yesterday for a simple Maple Sunday. The weather was rainy and cold so, instead of tromping around in the mud all day we just stopped at our local sugar shack for a bottle of syrup and a sample of maple ice cream. Then we visited with Pap for the afternoon and headed home.

Just because we kept things simple doesn't mean that we didn't have our usual Maple Sunday dinner... :)

Disney on Ice

Iz and I had an amazing time! We started the night with dinner at the Olive Garden - YUM! We took our time enjoying the meal and chatting and laughing and playing the gaes on the kids menu and getting excited for the show!
When we got to our seat we were even more excited....FRONT ROW! Well, not really - there we 2 rows of seats on the floor but we were in the front row of bleacher seats!!! No one in front of us blocking our view, almost in the center of the front of the ice and only about 30 feet from the edge of the ice :)
We could see EVERYTHING - all the characters expressions, costumes, silliness, jumps, twirls, leaps - it was all right there in front of us.

Now, this is the point where you could look at all the pictures I took from our amazing night out and our amazing CLOSE seats, but....

I FORGOT my camera *sniff*sniff*

Yes, it's true. My camera was not with us for this amazing night so, this video will have to do :(

Still an awesome night with my favorite girl . . . just no pictures to prove it. We have souvenirs though and I CAN get pictures of those so check back soon :)

Sea Dogs!

Friday afternoon began Hubby's vacation and we kicked things off right with a trip to a baseball game!!!

If you look WAY out underneath the Key bank sign  you'll see Iz and Hubby walking around the ball field before the game!!!

Slugger led them around the field.

Here they come!

Iz HAD to have a foam finger to root for the home team!

Posing for a quick pic on the way out....adorable!

Vacation....So Far

Ahhh, vacation. A time to kick back and relax, sip fruity drinks with umbrellas in them and not have a care in the world...

HA!

This is the 5th day of vacation (including teacher workshop day last Friday and the weekend) and we've been going NON-STOP for those five days.

Friday was the day I tackled my to-do list since I knew I wouldn't get another chance for a while. Lots of cleaning, laundry and errand-running.

Saturday I went Easter shopping with Mel (and annual tradition). I got home in time to fix a quick dinner, pick up a little, put Iz to bed and then Hubby and I had friends over for a few drinks and a LOT of laughs.

Sunday morning was Roo's Bday party at Chuck E. Cheese. It's an hour drive each way, plus stops for coffee and gas, and we were there about 3 hours. We got home about 3, Iz popped in a movie and I promptly fell asleep on the couch...

Yesterday was a playdate for Iz at a friends house in the afternoon so not exactly busy for me but I DID have to drop her off and pick her up :)

TODAY....we went to see Rio!!!

VERY cute movie..made Iz laugh out loud several times.

Honestly, I was laughing right alongside her!!!

Met Hubby afterwards so he could buy a new ladder and tie it to the top of my van and made it home just in time to put Iz to bed.

Whew! and it's only Day 5! The rest of the week includes coloring eggs with Auntie D and Mimi, a trip to the circus, playdate at another friend's house, dinner out for our anniversary (without Iz - we actually have a babysitter!!!), girls night out for me and then Easter Sunday.

My camera hasn't come out yet this vacation but that will change starting tomorrow :)

I Scream, You Scream

We ALL scream for ICE CREAM!!!

Auntie D and I took Mimi and Iz out for ice cream a couple weeks ago
(yes, I know...I'm right on top of things, huh?!)

Not sure, but we think it may have been Mimi's first ice cream cone :)

Iz, on the other hand, is a pro! :)

So exciting!

Trying a little out of a bowl instead...

Then back to the cone...this time with a spoon!

The ice cream got taken away...NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!

GIMME!!!

Ah, that's better :)

This happy girl just sat back and watched Mimi's antics while she enjoyed her frozen treat!

Almost gone...

VERY fun to take the girls out for a treat...MUST do it again soon :)

This week is school vacation and things are already shaping up to be busy busy busy so I should have plenty of pics to share over the next few days :)

A Night Out

Last Thursday night Iz and I met up with Hubby in the "big city" for dinner and, what would later be proclaimed, the BEST night of Iz's life.

Disney on Ice....Princess classics!

Yep, all the girls were there - Jasmine, Ariel, Aurora, Mulan, Snow White, Belle and Cinderella :)

And our girl was in her princessey glory!

No good shots of the show because we were a bit in the nosebleeds and my camera is TERRIBLE with night shots but, trust me, it was great. I promised Iz that if they do a princess show next year we'll leave Hubby home and splurge on VIP seats!!!

Seeing the pure joy on her face as she watched the skaters made it one of the best nights of my life too :)

Beantown - Day 1 - Bus Tour

One of the things on my 34 things before I turn 34 list was to take a vacation with Hubby and Iz. Last week we took a couple days and went to Boston, using a hotel g.c. Hubby won at work...this will probably have to count as our "vacation" since I'm not seeing Disney or anything in our near future :)

We left right after school on Wednesday and headed south! We checked into the hotel, let Iz go for a swim, went out to dinner, went for a swim all together and then I decided to finally haul out my camera (bad blogger! bad!) and snap a shot of Iz snuggled in for the night :)

Thursday morning we got up bright and early, had an AWESOME breakfast courtesy of the hotel and then fought rush hour traffic for over an hour to go 10 miles to a different hotel to be picked up for a Boston Tour!

First stop - Bunker Hill Monument ...incidentally, did you know that the Battle of Bunker Hill was not actually fought ON Bunker Hill? It was fought on Breed's Hill but, obviously, someone mis-read the GPS and it has always been referred to as the Battle of Bunker Hill. Definitely has a better ring to it than the Battle of Breed's Hill anyway :)

Iz walking the "Freedom Trail."

The Monument

"Breed's Hill. Site of the Battle of Bunker Hill fought June 17, 1776"
Makes us sounds like a bunch of idiot's, huh? I wonder how many people have read this plaque and wondered "Why didn't they just call it the Battle of Breed's Hill?"

Iz watching the battle played out in the museum.

Next stop - USS Constitution aka Old Ironsides

Then it was a trek up a very STEEP hill to visit the Old North Church.

We had lunch at Quincy market and Iz got to "Build a Bear" (more on that later...)

After lunch another stop where the wind was blowing so hard that it actually blew Iz right off this turtle after I snapped this picture :)

Snuggling with her new bear :)

Last stop - Henry Wadsworth Longfellows house. we didn't tour the house but did get to walk through the gardens - VERY nice :)
The tour also drove us by MIT, Harvard, Fenway park and a million other things. We had a blast AND it didn't rain!

We were dropped off at the van around 4 and 5 minutes later I looked back and saw this:
Somebody was worn out...and Iz was tired too! LOL!
