First Day of School

I've spent almost every minute of every day for the past 5-1/2 years with my girl...

until yesterday *sob*. The first day of Kindergarten.

She was a little excited :)

We were out waiting for the bus about 15 minutes early because she just couldn't wait in the house any longer!

Daddy stuck around long enough to see her off :)

This was before I got all teary :)
(but I made sure to pull my sunglasses over my eyes so she wouldn't see!)

And, after centering my life around her since the day she was born, IzzyB kissed me and then marched across the street and onto that big yellow bus without even a glance back! Hmph....not sure how I feel about that :)

Luckily I had some errands to run but I was home by noon and then spent the next almost 4 hours watching the clock, waiting for my girl. I have a big list of projects to do while Iz is at school but I'm taking the first week or so to "adjust."

It was a long day but she finally came back...

She was tired but she LOVED it! Ahhh....that makes a mama feel good!

Summer Fun: York's Wild Kingdom!

We are so fortunate to have people in our life that are willing to come along when we do all these fun things....Mimi and L joined us at the zoo Tuesday for a beautiful, FUN day :)

Feeding the ducks....

....and the goats. Mimi loved the goats...every time she fed one she would squeal and go "yum yum yum" Adorable!

Iz got up close and personal with one of the deer. She was fascinated by it!

Silly pics - chocolate covered bananas!!!

MORE goats!

We walked over to the beach while we were nearby to play for a few minutes on the awesome playground there.

With the exception of Mimi getting STUNG while we were waiting in line to buy our tickets it was another AWESOME FUN summer day :)

Summer Fun: Union Fair!

Hubby has talked about the Union Fair every year and every year it passes by before we get a chance to go up. Not this year though :) I made a point to mark the dates on our calendar, "like" the fair on FB so I'd get reminders and put it as an item on our Summer Fun List - all to ensure that THIS year we would make it up.

We piled in the car bright and early and we there late morning. Hubby wanted to make sure we were able to catch the K-9 demo the State Police was doing - he's a sucker for shepards and we weren't disappointed by the all black one at the fair! She was a sweetie and the officer with her put on a great presentation :)

A fair isn't a fair without all the animals...

A little pretend :)

A quick game or two...

Some tractors...

Cotton candy!

We had so much fun! A nice, small, fun fair :)

Summer Fun: The Ocean, Part 2

Our fun list listed going to the ocean 2+ times so, for our second trip, we headed over to Fort Williams with Mel and her boys to explore the forts, climb rocks, have a picnic, splash round and check out the lighthouse. AWESOME!

My fave picture of the day....Iz and her best buddies :)

The fort tunnel...good thing we brought flashlights!

Looking for snails...LOTS and LOTS of snails :)

Portland Head Light - gorgeous!

Backseat Conversation

We live in the middle of nowhere. Actually, if you go to the middle of nowhere you're going to have to drive just a little further to get to our house. Because of that, Iz and I spend a lot of time in the car. If we leave the house I bank on at least a 30 minute drive one way and hardly ever leave without snacks and a cooler with some cold drinks. On an average day I can easily put 50 miles on my car just going to the library or grocery store or to a friends house. The only exception to the 50 mile rule is when we go to our friend R;s house (4 miles away), to our local library (5 miles away) or the nearby convenience store for Slush Puppies and Iced Coffee on a hot day (4 miles away).

All this time in the car gives Iz and I time for heart to heart talks and funny conversations. Actually, what usually happens is Iz talks non-stop the ENTIRE time and I tune most of it out but sometimes she says something that I just *have* to write down. Here are some of those things:

1.) Iz: Mommy, I had no idea Auntie D was such a good dancer! She was really getting down with her bad self at SnL's wedding!!!

2.) Iz: (playing with her toy laptop) Oh man, this thing is SO slow! How am I supposed to upload pics to my blog? Wow! I sure have a lot of friends on Facebook!

3.) What would happen if we had a tiny car that the windows didn't open and I did a lot of tooting (aka - passing gas) in it? Would your nose break?

4.) *singing* My Russian hat! My Russian hat! I LO-O-O-VE my Russian haaaaaaaaaaaaat!

Seriously...that kid cracks me up! :)

Summer Fun: The Ocean, Part 1

After a CRAZY July we've been trying to pack pretty much our entire summer fun list into the month of August (and probably most of Spetember!) but we're determined to check off as many things as we can. We twisted WW's arm (not!) and dragged her along with us to one of my favorite places...the OCEAN!

Hauling our stuff...

Posing - I spent almost every summer of my life just a couple of miles from this beach and spent many a day exploring tidepools, jumping waves and, when I was older, sunbathing and checking out the lifeguards :)

The partly cloudy day didn't stop my girl from having a super fun time!

It wasn't long before she made a new friend and they worked hard on a castle even though the sand was a little too wet for building!

We've been looking for a reasonably priced boogey board for a couple weeks now and found one right before we got to the beach!!!

SO.MUCH.FUN!

Thanks for going with us WW...and for being smart enough to actually BRING a camera!!! :)
