Maple Sunday

Yesterday was Maple Sunday! One of my favorite days of the year :)

I don't have a lot pf pictures because the wind was whipping and it was FREEZING, but here are a few....it was pretty much the same as last year....just less mud :)


Iz entered a contest to name this baby calf....she picked "Moo-Belle" which took her 2 whole days to come up with and, I think, should be the winning name....we'll see :)

This was Iz's favorite cow....she loved the shaggy hair!

Only in Maine do you go around in the freezing cold to sit on a tractor :)

Looks like Iz loves baby cows as much as me....they're just the sweetest things!

She likes the big ones to, it seems :)

One last stop at the Alpaca Farm up the road....

....and we were back home by lunchtime. It was a relaxing Sunday afternoon around here made complete by our traditional Maple Sunday dinner....Banana-Nut pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and, of course, FRESH syrup! YUM!

Get Ov Here and Play Scrabble with Us!

Now, I am fully aware that this will not be nearly as funny for anyone else as it was for Auntie D and I late Monday night....but I had to share it anyway.

After a pretty uneventful game of Scrabble I was left with ONE letter.... "V".

Now, I don't know about you, but I can't think of any 2 letter words that begin or end with V.

So, Auntie D, being very gracious, let me use this as my final word...


That's right... OV....

Well, we were in hysterics over this and spent quite a while comping up with ridiculous ways to use the word "OV" in a sentence for me to give as examples when I wrote this post. However, that was days ago and I don't even remember what I had for breakfast this morning. Here are a few that stuck with me though.....

Where's Jimmy? Oh, he's OV by the rivah!

Wanna go OV to the Dunkin Donuts and get an Iced Coffee?

Where's Auntie D? Oh, she's OV at the Shop n Save gettin' some lobstah....ayuh!

*One other thing...when I spell-checked this post Blogger did not recognize OV as a word and suggested that maybe I was trying to spell IV, ORV, OVA, OB or just plain "O" Sheesh! What does Blogger know anyway? It also accused me of misspelling "rivah" "Dunkin" "lobstah" and "ayuh" Seriously.....

UPTA Camp - March '10

It's been a couple months and the weather forecast was calling for rain so we thought, "What the heck! Let's go Upta Camp!"

We played some Princess Bingo...

(notice there are iced coffees present? With Auntie D and me there are ALWAYS iced coffees....even in winter....even when it's raining :) )

Even Kiko joined in for B-I-N-G-O

Then she had to go hide in the shower for a while since Callie was bullying her....not nice!

The second day Iz went out to play....rain or no rain.....she NEEDED to get out some energy!

I braved the rain (and the chance of melting...) to blow some bubbles for the girls - Callie goes absolutely NUTS when there are bubble around!

The day we left for home the sun decided to show itself (of course!) so I grabbed a few shots of the river....the water was SO high! Higher than I've ever seen it, for sure.

Another fun couple days Upta Camp. Hoping to get up there again sometime this spring when the weather will actually be nice...I'm pretty sure it rains EVERY time we go!

And, naturally, I have another Scrabble story....but that will have to wait for another day :)
