Catching Up: Recital!

Because a tee ball game and closing program weren't enough for Father's Day weekend, Saturday night was Iz's RECITAL!!!!

My pictures didn't come out that great Saturday night...

Post-recital pose with ALL her flowers!

Luckily I had Sunday night to try and redeem myself photo-wise...

Sunday night was Recital: Round 2...and Iz started off being a little crazy.

I remembered to actually take a picture of Iz IN her costume the 2nd time around!

I was also able to sneak up to the front row Sunday night to get some better action shots!!!

Recital was, well....looooooooong but Iz was great up on stage and she loves it so it was all worth it in the end. By Monday morning we were both exhausted and spent the beginning of the week recuperating. The middle/end of the week ended up being pretty exciting. Come back TOMORROW to find out why :)

Random

Preschool ended last month and Iz and I have been busy busy busy ever since with tee ball and ballet but that all ends this weekend. Our last tee ball game is Saturday morning and recital is Saturday night.

In anticipation of our new found freedom come Monday morning we have been working on a summer fun list. It includes things like camping, a trip to the ocean and ice cream at the ice cream shop I loved as a child. It's still a work in progress but check in Monday for the (hopefully) completed list.

The flower girls dresses are in for SnL's wedding....here's a sneak peak :)

And, just to keep teasing....recital costume....

Finally, I'm listening to the second book in The Hunger Games trilogy (if you haven't read this series yet....do it! So good!) and I love how listening to books gives me a whole new perspective on the characters and plot. It happened when I listened to Harry Potter, it happened when I listened to Twilight and now it's happening with The Hunger Games. In the car Iz and I are listening to the Little House on the Prairie books which she LOVES and I'm enjoying hearing again - it's been so long since I've read them.

Audio books....awesome!!! FREE audio books from the library? Even more AWESOME!!! :)

Happy Tuesday all!

Wow!

Iz has mastered doing a bridge BY HERSELF at ballet :)

Takes a lot of strength and balance to get all the way up into a perfect arch....she ahs been working VERY hard at this for months!!!!

This Week

Sunday: Iz and I went to HC's house for some fun in the sun/pool/slip'n'slide then came back home, picked up Hubby and went to Friendly's for dinner!

Monday & Tuesday: Home....cleaning, playing, catching up on my shows and being SILLY with my favorite little girl!

Wednesday: Typical Wednesday with Auntie D and Ellie though this week Auntie D played hookie from work (shhhh....don't tell) and we skipped story time at the library in favor of getting our errands done early so we would have more time to play with the girls!!!

Wednesday Night: Hubby was gone overnight for work (boo!) but Iz and I made the most of it with a relaxing dinner, movies, treats and lots of cuddles!

Today: Iz and I slept in 'til 8 (!) then went to hang out with Mel & her boys, blackberry picking at Mel's in-laws, we're home for a quick dinner then I'm headed out to meet up with the "Ballet Moms" for a couple of drinks and, I'm sure, LOTS and LOTS of laughs!

Tomorrow: Catching up on laundry, grocery shopping (ugh!) and getting ready for the weekend...no plans yet and I am looking forward to some relaxing with my fam :)

I took ZERO pictures this week (in a rut, I guess) but I think it's because the weather has just been unbearable - too hot, too humid and too much for me to deal with. The temps and humidity are supposed to drop tonight into tomorrow and the weekend is supposed to be PERFECT! Have a great one!

No Denying...

Iz DEFINITELY takes after me :)
.
Enjoy!
The quality isn't that great because I had to compress it to get it to upload to the blog, so I don't recommend going full screen but, still - you'll get the gist even when the video is little!!!
.
.
.
(oh, and sorry about my giggling in the background...I tried to stay quiet but sheesh! she's too funny!)
.
.
.
.
.
This wasn't the only tune she got down too, either...we had a dance-fest around here to
.
Can you just say F-U-N!

Recital - Action Shots*

Iz's recital was themed Spotlight on Broadway.
.
Some kids danced to songs from "Annie Get Your Gun." Some danced to songs from "Grease." Others, VG included, danced to songs from "Wicked." :)
.
Iz's class was one of several to dance to songs from "Peter Pan."
.
So cute!
.
There were little Peter Pans, little Wendy's, The Lost Boys, little pink Tinkerbells :) and even Pirates! Iz's class danced to Neverland and Following the Leader.
.
.
.
.
.
When all was said and done and it was time for everyone to come out and take a bow, Iz came out holding hands with VG, did a little twirl, and made me cry all over again :)

Recital!!!

Iz was AMAZING in her recital!!! Unfortunately, I couldn't get any pictures DURING her dance but I did get a cute pre-Recital Pic :)
.
.
This one's post-Recital...and also post-Bedtime...
.
.
She perked up a bit when she got flowers from Hubby and myself, Nannie AND WW!!!!
.
.
Posing in her recital t-shirt...This was WAY past bedtime, so her good humor is impressive!
.
.
All the flowers...trimmed and on display :)
.
.
One more in her costume, for good measure!
.
.
I ordered the video, so maybe I can get some good shots from that AND I'll be putting in an order for her professional photo in costume so I'll share that as soon as I get it.
.
Great recital! Very fun! Very cute!
.
And I only cried a little :)

Storyland

We had a great time at Storyland with Mel & her boys today...only took a few pictures but we have seasons passes so there will be LOTS more trips up there and MANY more pictures!
.
.
.
Iz and "Roo" holding hands...ADORABLE!
.
.
We also managed to make it to dress rehearsal ON TIME (a miracle, I tell ya!). Recital tomorrow night and we are VERY excited :) I won't be able to take pictures during the recital but I'll have plenty for you anyway!!!
.
Have a GREAT weekend!

PICTURES!

A lot has been happening around here but I have hardly any pictures to show for it and I'm not going to bore you with all the details...we've been busy busy busy with graduations, a trip up to Grammie and Bumpy's, a day at Auntie D's with Ellie, Jimmy's last day of school today and recital coming up this weekend...whew!
.
However, I should have a ton of pictures tomorrow night since we are going to STORYLAND :) with Mel and her boys tomorrow for the day and then Iz has dress rehearsal tomorrow night...can't WAIT to see her all dolled up, but definitely ready for ballet to be over and to be FREE for the summer!!!
.
Meanwhile - Auntie D and I took Iz and Ellie to have their pics taken a couple weeks back.
.
Enjoy :)

The Weekend...well, just Saturday :)

The only day worth talking about this weekend is Saturday...Sunday we just hung out at home and puttered around...but Saturday...SATURDAY...that was the good day :)
.
Iz started something she's been looking forward to for weeks...can you guess what it was?
.
.
Yeppers...Ballet Class! It was the first one...and Iz was the only kid there (boo!) but she still had fun. We'll give it a couple weeks and see if any other little ones show up. If they don't we'll look to switch to a class on Friday mornings at a different location but with the same dance company. I really want it to be a good experience for Iz with other kids...she gets all the one-on-one attention she needs...too much, in fact...I really want her to be in a class with other kids so she can learn to take turns and share the "spotlight" - skills she'll need next year when she goes to preschool.
.
The minute we pulled into the driveway after class the heavens opened and it rained the rest of the day. After lunch I was a bundle of energy - SURPRISE! SURPRISE! - so I sent her out to splash around in the puddles.
.
.
Who says you need SUN to have FUN ?!?
.

.
On a side note...the NFL season started this past Thursday...but, for ME, it really starts TONIGHT -
.
GO PATS!
