Kindergarten Field Trip

I joined Iz and her class and the other Kindergarten class on their field trip last week to the children's museum...FUN!

Rainy Weekend

It started raining on Friday night and rained ALL.WEEKEND.LONG!

We tried to make the most out of it by going to the library Saturday morning and then out to lunch. Iz got the dvd Hugo at the library so we watched it when we got home. Actually Hubby and Iz watched it and I took a nap :) But, when Sunday rolled around Iz had had enough and the whining began.

So, what better way to spend a rainy day then with a quick trip to the store, birthday money in hand to get a new LEG0 Friends set...

...or two :)

We got back about 3:30, Hubby headed off to band practice and I got a glorious TWO uninterrupted hours to study for my upcoming CNA final and state exam!!! 

Thank you LEG0 for finally offering sets that my girly LOVES!

Sassy likes new LEG0 sets too! Well....at least, she likes a new box to lay on :)

On a related note - there's been a lot of controversy about these new "girl" LEG0s since they were introduced a few months ago but I adore them! Some people think they're sexist or whatever. Iz received some for her birthday and Easter and has bought a few sets since with money she's saved up. She probably has 7 sets total now. She's never shown an interest in LEG0s before but, then again, why would she? All that was available was Toy Story, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Carribean, Cars, etc - nothing that interested her. Since the LEG0 friends has come out she loves building things and plays with them for HOURS!

Maple Sunday 2012

Iz and I headed out mid-morning yesterday for a simple Maple Sunday. The weather was rainy and cold so, instead of tromping around in the mud all day we just stopped at our local sugar shack for a bottle of syrup and a sample of maple ice cream. Then we visited with Pap for the afternoon and headed home. 

Just because we kept things simple doesn't mean that we didn't have our usual Maple Sunday dinner... :)

It's been snowing here since about 10 last night and expected to continue snowing ALL.DAY.LONG. and well into the night.  You know what that means?

No school for Iz today, no school for me tonight, and Hubby's staying home from work . . . a fire blazing in the wood stove, soup and homemade bread for dinner and a whole day "stuck" in with my family . . . sounds PERFECT to me :)

Snow

We got a little (VERY little) snow over vacation and took the opportunity to get outside and play...and not get soaked and muddy :)

When we were shoveling off the deck, Iz decided that she wanted to save some of the snow and laid down on it to protect her little stash...

So we just shoveled around her...

And had our own little Iz outline when we were done :)

OcSNOWber

Remember the other day when I mentioned that we might get some more snow Saturday night? 

Well, the weather men predicted 5"-10" . . . they were a *little* off :/

EIGHTEEN INCHES. Of SNOW. In OCTOBER. Sheesh! Ridiculous!

Not everyone was so unhappy about it. The other girls in this house LOVE the snow!!!\

Not fun. Not fun at all. Hubby had to drag out the snowblower and everything. A lot of it has melted by now but just the fact that we got a foot and a half of snow on October 30th was a bit of a shocker.

Here's to hoping that early snow means early SPRING!

What?!?

When I looked out the window this morning, I saw this:

No, that's not a heavy frost. It's snow. SNOW! In October! Seriously!!!

The worst part? They're predicting a Nor'Easter TOMORROW NIGHT! When it's STILL only October! I mean, we live in Maine and the weather is unpredictable but this is ridiculous! We'll see how it all pans out. The weather is saying potentially 5-10 inches of snow.

Looks like it's going to be a white, um, Halloween :/

Apple Picking

After Iz's soccer game Saturday morning we decided to take advantage of the nice day and go grab some apples. I love that I have pictures from EVERY year of doing this with my 2 favorite people. 

Irene

We had a visitor to our great state last weekend..."Hurricane" Irene. Not as bad as we expected though we did lose power for about 30 hours, Autie D didn't have power for 3 days, and there was a lot of branches that came down. Other places got it a LOT worse (big shout out to my buddy G in Vermont who can't even get to her HOUSE because the road is washed out! Love you!).

No power for more than a day. This is what we did...

A little coloring.

A lot of napping.

Some tunes.

A WHOLE book! (really good, btw!)

This one's hard to see but a pretty good size branch came down in the road right in front of our house but there were guys there within a couple hours with chainsaws to get it out of the way!

We survived with minimal damage. The wind finally brought down a branch that's been hanging off a tree over our driveway for more than a year but we had moved the vehicles in anticipation of it coming down so all is well up here at the L house :)

Graduation Party!

Saturday we celebrated my nephew's high school graduation. The weather was beautiful, the food was awesome and we had a blast! Iz spent most f the day in the pool with the big girls and slept like a ROCK that night :)

I was so busy socializing (can you believe it? ha!) that I didn't get a single picture of the graduate (click HERE if you missed who is was) but I did get a picture of the cake I decorated for him...

Of course, i grabbed some pictures of the girls...

...and I had to get a picture of the together since they were color coordinated. SO not easy sine Mimi is young and Iz has started making dorky faces/poses lately EVERY time I grab my camera!

 I also HAD to grab a shot of Auntie D hanging with Mimi in her little tent...Mimi LOVED having company :)

Awesome party WW and Uncle P! Let's do it again in 2 years when VG graduates, shall we?
